The annual Sedgwick  County 4-H show is the highlight of the Fair! You can't BELIEVE all the different cool things that the 4-H-ers bring to the fair for their exhibits.  Check out their website for a complete list of all the categories: http://www.sedgwick.ksu.edu/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=487

We're really proud of all their accompllishments!

In the Open Air Arena...for your listening pleasure:

Wolfgang- Thursday night, July 8th 8:00-10:30pm  This band performs covers from some of the best 80's bands that rocked our world!  Their major influence is Eddie Van Halen and even gave tribute to the man by naming their band after his favorite composer, Wolfgang Mozart.  Of course with such an influence they do cover Van Halen, but they also cover such classics as Journey, Posion, KISS, Queen, and a bit of AC/DC.

Lucky People- Friday night, July 9th 9:00-11:30pm  A great all ages band!  A cover band with a plethora of dance and pop hits that everyone will recognize.  The group has a wonderful feel good attitude.  To learn more about them check out their website www.luckypeopleband.com

Get a jalopy and join the action at the Sedgwick County Fair. Many contestants will find willing sponsors to provide cars in return for advertising painted on the vehicle. All you need is a valid driver's license and, if under 18 years of age, a parental consent. The whole idea of course, is to drive onto the track arena with a number of other contestants and proceed to wreck as many other cars as possible while keeping your own car running. No holds barred, except deliberate head-on collisions and drivers door crashes are prohibited. The survivors will share in cash prizes and trophies. There will be four to three heats at each derby scheduled, plus a feature event for the finalists. Drivers interested should contact the fair for rules and regulations immediately, call Bret Albers @ 542-0407 or 542-0404 for information.

It's like American Idol, without crazy Paula.  Sixteen hand-selected performers will vie for the Fair Idol title. A panel of judges including Sierra Scott, first-ever Fair Idol winner Frankie Shayne and Jason Shire, lead singer for Big Fat Fun with the help of the audience will vote for their top choice each night of the competition. The winner takes home $500. Competition will start wenesday at 7 and return Friday night at 7:30 p.m. The finale will be held on Saturday at 7:30. Audience members must have fair button to attend.

Get your green thumb ready to pick the brains of the Sedgwick County Extension Master Gardeners. They will be on hand to answer any questions about planting and landscaping trees. The Master Gardeners will have a booth south of the 4-H building on Thursday, July 9. Make sure to check out the new landscaping in front of the 4-H building courtesy of the Master Gardeners.

Running a little short on cash? The Meritrust mobile ATM will be on the fairground to handle all your greenback needs.

Art's and Mary's is sponsoring the Car Show at this year's fair. The show will be on Saturday, July 11 at 9 am. The show is free for all participants and spectators. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with free dash plaques to the first fifty cars that enter. The fairgoers will vote on their favorite car in each of the categories. It's going to be lots of fun and chips down at the car show. People who are interested in registering a car can contact Jeff Albers at 316-542-0404.
