GeTBad-Names for band members Greg, Tricia, Bruce and Dave, will be bringing high-energy pop rock and dance music to the open air stage, covering everyone from Lady Gage to The Cult to Michael Jackson. They pride themselves with being an all-ages, family-friendly band....check them out on Facebook. Get on with ya Bad self, c’mon!
Wolfgang- Friday night, July 8th 8:30-11:30pm This band performs covers from some of the best 80's bands that rocked our world! Their major influence is Eddie Van Halen and even gave tribute to the man by naming their band after his favorite composer, Wolfgang Mozart. Of course with such an influence they do cover Van Halen, but they also cover such classics as Journey, Posion, KISS, Queen, and a bit of AC/DC.

Ooooo, Ahhh, WOW! The Big Fireworks Finish- When you go to buy your Fair Button this year, you’ll notice an itty bitty price bump: $3 in advance…$4 @ the Fairgrounds….but rest assured, dear Fair Goer, those extra $$$ are being put to very good use: Saturday night at 10:00pm, we’re closing the Fair with a Big Bang (!) Fireworks show. The best viewing will be from the south end of the carnival midway or the east side of the Fairgrounds. Enjoy!
Move over Harry Potter…Keir Royale is taking the stage! Get ready for two big shows that feature Magic and Hypnosis by entertainment wizard Keir Royale. He’ll be on the Open Air Stage on Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m. and Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m Check out www.WichitaComedyMagician.com for a preview.

Do you want to be part of the Fair? Check under "Downloadable Forms" on the menu to the left for rules and entry forms to your favorite Fair Activity. That's where you'll find the Open Class Rules, a printable Fair Schedule and entry forms for the Guitar Hero contest, BBQ Cookoff and the Parade. Check it out and come be part of the fun!

A Fair button is required for some Fair events and they are available for $3 in advance and $4 at the Fairgrounds. They can be purchased at Cardinal Corner, Clip and Curl, Hank is Wiser Brewery, Jim's Foodliner, KAPS Convenience Story, Subway, Twietmeyer Dentistry, Farm Supply and Citizens State Bank in Cheney, in Garden Plain: Farmers Coop & Stuhlsatz Service; and in Goddard at Kwick Shop, First Choice Credit Union and First National Bank of Southern Kansas and at all Legacy Bank locations in Wichita.
Bringing out the kid in everyone: The Pride of Texas Carnival! They're back this year with even more rides! The Pride of Texas Carnival has new rides for the little kids to ride this year; which will make you want to buy a bracelet for your child so they can ride the rides all night long. They've got "Oooo's and Awww's" for the tikes and the thrills and chills for the "big kids". Just remember to ride the rides FIRST, then go for the church lady food, it's safer for everyone that way. They'll be open every night from 6:30-11:30 p.m.
You can get a $5 discount coupon for the $20 ride-all-the-rides bracelets in the West Wide Story, the Times-Sentinel or the Jim's Foodliner grocery circular for Thursday night.
CowBoys, Beer and Bulls, Oh My! That's right: it's Bull Riding time once again and this event is a guaranteed good time. Come out to see some of the bravest adrenaline junkies you have ever seen Friday, July 8th. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. Mutton Bust'in at 6:00 p.m. and the main event begins at 7. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for children; $12 dollars and $10 respectively at the gate. As always, children under five get in free. But before the big show begins, make sure you support the younger crowd with the mutton bustin' competition. Kids age 5-7 can take on the challenge with only a $10 entry fee and a completed form (located in the downloadable forms section) due the night of the competition. Only the first 20 entries will be eligible. Last but not least, make sure to visit the beer garden for some Budweiser & Bud Light to keep up your stamina! (Remember: No ID, No BEER!)
On the night when it's Dad's turn to cook or Mom is simply too tired to slave over a hot stove to feed her unruly brood dinner, load up the car and take the short drive out to the fair grounds to sample some of the best fair food around. Billy can have his pizza, Bobby Sue can have her corn dog, and Mom and Dad can have some scrumptious church lady chicken & noodles and pie. Here's the menu:

Demolition Derby: Saturday, July 9th, 7:00 pm
Advance tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for children ages 5-12, under 5 get in free; At the gate: $10 for adults and $8 for kids. (until capacity has been reached). Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at D'Mario's Pizza, Robinson's Hardware, Citizen's State Bank and all Legacy Bank locations. Feel like busting up some Detroit Pig Iron? Get a jalopy and join the action at the Sedgwick County Fair. Many contestants will find willing sponsors to provide cars in return for advertising painted on the vehicle. All you need is a valid driver's license and, if under 18 years of age, a parental consent. The whole idea of course, is to drive onto the track arena with a number of other contestants and proceed to wreck as many other cars as possible while keeping your own car running. No holds barred, except deliberate head-on collisions and drivers door crashes are prohibited. The survivors will share in cash prizes and trophies. There will be four to three heats at each derby scheduled, plus a feature event for the finalists. Drivers interested should contact the fair for rules and regulations immediately, call Bret Albers @ 542-0407 or 542-0404 for information.

Bigger, Badder Bragging Rights…PLUS $500! Woot, Woot Fair Idol!!
17 hand-selected performers will vie for the Fair Idol title. Local Celeb judges with the help of the audience will vote for their top choice each night of the competition and the winner takes home $500. Competition will start in the Open Air Stage Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights at 7:00 p.m. and the competition and talent will be fierce! Audience members must have fair button to participate and vote.
Get your green thumb ready to pick the brains of the Sedgwick County Extension Master Gardeners. They will be on hand to answer any questions about planting and landscaping trees. The Master Gardeners will have a booth south of the 4-H building on Thursday, July 7. Make sure to check out the new landscaping in front of the 4-H building courtesy of the Master Gardeners.
Running a little short on cash? The Meritrust mobile ATM will be on the fairground to handle all your greenback needs.
Art's and Mary's is sponsoring the Car Show at this year's fair. The show will be on Saturday, July 9th at 9 am. The show is free for all participants and spectators. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with free dash plaques to the first fifty cars that enter. The fairgoers will vote on their favorite car in each of the categories. It's going to be lots of fun and chips down at the car show. People who are interested in registering a car can contact Jeff Albers at 316-542-0404.
